(WasteCap NE): Rohan reported that project is trying to expand to 61 potential drop-off / pick-up locations. Anyone with suggestions for possible businesses that might wish to be considered, please contact Anne.
Organic Transition Project: Cover crop workshop is scheduled for March 24, 2011 @ Prairie Loft in Hastings. Update will be provided at next council meeting. The project has been tentatively extended until December 31, 2012. There was discussion regarding the distribution of the farmer contact fees with nothing definite being decided. Gunn will look into submitting expenses for workshop on the NRCS Coop. Agreement additional funds.
Prairie Loft Center – Sandeen reported that the Governor will be in attendance on Friday (March 18) for National Ag Week. The capital campaign is ongoing to raise money for plumbing, kitchen area improvements and windows. Tree restoration is underway with about 95 trees to be planted at the site. Edgerton Center Playground: Continue to research possible grant sources.
Buy Fresh Buy Local Nebraska: Membership drive for 2011 food guide is currently underway.
Community Tree Planting – Committee Chair, Eriksen, reported that application packets were sent to city clerks, tree boards, parks & recreational councils.
The application deadline is April 15 with a maximum of $5,000 per
application. A review is scheduled for May 2, 2011 and submission of community planting plan is set for July 1, 2011. A news release will be distributed as a reminder. Quandt suggested contacting area schools to raise interest in project.
